ALISA LARAWAY - FOUNDER & ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Alisa was born and raised in Dallas where she began her dance studies at the age of 2 in 1972 at her mother’s dance school. While at her mother’s studio, Alisa was a member of Dallas Dance Elite, later becoming Artistic Director and Choreographer. In 1988 Alisa was honored with a scholarship to Patsy Swayze’s Dance Studio in Los Angeles. Along with training at her mother’s dance studio, Alisa has also studied at Chamberlain School of Ballet, Buster Cooper’s School of Dance, and Dance Etc. She has studied many genres of dance, ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, hip-hop, musical theater, not to mention twirling and gymnastics! Alisa has received many additional achievements and scholarships for her performances and choreography for several major productions around the world. In 1996 Alisa founded Alisa’s Dance Academy in Westlake and Austin’s Dance Elite, the youth performing company. Verge Dance Co. and BA Productions were founded through the academy in 2001. Today, she continues to direct the Westlake Academy and a new 2nd Academy location in Lakeway. Alisa is a Member of The National Dance Association (NDA), American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD), ASCAP and SESAC and is American Dance Certified (ADC).

KRISTIN NICOLAISEN - ASSISTANT ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Kristin began dancing at a young age and started training/competing at 12 with Masters of Dance under the direction of Melissa Hooks. The company traveled all over the country seeking the highest level of well rounded dance education and placed first at National competition multiple years in a row. She also received many awards and acclamations in her solo work including multiple scholarships, 'L.A. agent' and 'Teen Dancer of the Year' I.D.C. etc. After graduating from Texas State University with a Bachelors of Arts in communication. She has continued to train locally as well as in L.A. and N.Y.C. Kristin has been dancing professionally, teaching and choreographing for the past 8 years. She is a Sr. instructor at Alisa's Dance Academy in Austin, TX. In the last year she has been touring with Zayra as a back-up dancer. Kristin is madly in love with the art of movement and is ever embracing and exploring this beautiful boundless art

HANNAH BACON-BRIGHTWELL - RESIDENT CHOREOGRAPHER & MANAGER

Hannah is originally from Southwest Louisiana where she fell in love with the art of dance at 13. After dancing in both studio and competitive teams in high school, she went on to Northwestern State University of Louisiana. While there she earned her BA in Business & graduated Magna Cum Laude while also studying dance and composition extensively both within the university and outside of the program. While she is trained in various styles abs techniques, her highest passion is for contemporary and safety release modern technique. After college, Hannah went on to dance for 2BTribe Modern Dance Company in Natchitoches, LA before moving to Austin, TX with her husband, Lance. After a brief period of time in the city, she began teaching at Alisa's Dance Academy and joined Verge Dance Company. She is now in her third season with the company and couldn't be happier to be a part of this fantastic organization.

MAGGIE BANG- member since 2007
Maggie has been dancing since she was 2 years old. She grew up in Victoria, TX, where she started dancing competitively when she was 9 years old and was a member, and an officer, of the Victoria Strutters Junior High Dance Team and of the Memorial High School Victoriadores. Maggie graduated from UT-Austin in 2009 with a BBA in Marketing, and this is her 5th year as a Verge Dance Co. member. Currently, she works at Texas Performing Arts at UT as the Student Engagement Coordinator, and she loves spending time with her Verge girls!

ALANA GUTIERREZ- member since 2008
Alana was born in Austin, Texas where she started dancing at a very young age, following her sister’s footsteps. She took classes at the Joyce Willett School of dance where she became a member of Body Talk Dance Company. A few years later life took her to Plano, Texas where she continued her dance training at KJ Dance Designs. She soon became a member of Pulse Dance Company. She trained in all styles of dance and was involved in competitions and conventions throughout the states. Alana took a special liking to Tap dancing and she was a natural. She has had the opportunity to take classes from the EDGE Performing Arts Center & the Joseph Malone Performing Arts Center in California. In 2002, Alana suffered an acute back injury, which put a stop to serious dancing for a while. She put her gift for rhythm to good use while her injury healed and began playing drums as a hobby. She returned to Austin in late 2003 to live and work. Alana then met Kristin Nicolaisen who encouraged her to dust off her dance shoes and get back into class. By 2005, Alana became a member of Verge Dance Company. She is glad to be able to continue her love for dance while maintaining a full time job at the Texas State Capitol.

DANIELA BUSTILLOS - member since 2010
Daniela, originally from Caracas, Venezuela lived most of her life in Barcelona, Spain where dance was not widely recognized or presented to the public as an art form. At the age of 16 she moved to the United States where she first discovered dance and began her ballet training with John Adamson at the Adamson Ballet School in Houston, Texas. Two years later at a Verge Dance Company performance, she was offered with a glimpse of contemporary and jazz dance style. Inspired, she made her goal and immersed herself into their style. This is her second season with the company and she could not be more pleased and overjoyed to share her love for dance with her fellow dancers.

CATALINA CANTU- member since 2011
Catalina is originally from Fort Worth, Texas where she trained primarily with Dance Concept Studio. She received scholarships to train in New York and Los Angeles, and performed under Debbi Allen, Sheila Barker, Frank Hatchett and more. Catalina moved to Austin to attend college and fell in love with the city she now happily calls home. Catalina holds a B.A. from the Univ of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from St. Mary's School Law. Presently she is an attorney with the law office of Joel B. Bennett, P.C. in Austin, TX. Catalina is an avid marathon runner, triathlete and yogi, but her greatest passion remains dance. In Austin she has danced with STEEL dance company where she was a principal dancer for 4 years, taught at the Dance Zone, and guest performed with the Jazz Ballet Co. and other local companies. Inspired by the tragedy in Haiti, in 2010 Catalina co-Directed "Awareness: From Here to There", a non-profit show featuring local companies and choreographers which benefitted the "We hear your Voice" relief efforts in Haiti. This is Catalina's first season with Verge and she is very excited to perform with her fellow artists. Motto: Movement is the ultimate form of art.

KELSEY GRANT- member since 2011
Kelsey was raised in League City, Texas where she found her passion for dance at a young age. After numerous years of training and performing, her continued desire to dance led her to Oklahoma City University, where she studied Dance Management for four years and was recognized as a Cum Laude graduate. Kelsey now has the honor to share her love of dance while teaching students of all ages in the genres of ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop at Alisa’s Dance Academy. She feels truly blessed to have the opportunity to educate young individuals with the knowledge of such an amazing art form. Kelsey is extremely excited and thankful to be continuing her performing career with Verge Dance Company! She would like to thank God for continuous blessings to be able to do what she loves every day, and her amazing family for their unending love and support.

EMILY SNOUFFER- member since 2011
Emily has been dancing for sixteen years in the genres of ballet, tap, pointe, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, modern and contemporary. She is a recent graduate of Westlake High School. During that time, she was a member of the award winning Austin’s Dance Elite and a member and officer of the Westlake Hyline. She has trained at The Dance Center, Tapestry, Alisa’s Dance Academy, Ballet Austin Academy, The Edge Performing Arts Center, Millenium Dance Complex and Broadway Dance Center. She has attended West Coast Dance Explosion, NYCDA, Co Dance and the Pulse on Tour, winning scholarships at both West Coast Dance Explosion and NYCDA for consecutive years. She has placed in the finals and won several regional, state and national dance competitions and was named “Dance Intern” in Austin’s Dance Elite. Currently, she is pursuing a BFA in dance at the University of Texas at Austin and is a member of Reverence Dance Company. She is anxious to dance as much as possible, absorb all she can and improve to be her personal best. She is so thankful, excited and lucky to be here with Verge!

DANIELLE STOREY- member since 2011
Danielle has been dancing since the age of five and has studied an array of genres, her favorites being jazz, modern and musical theatre. She trained with Tempe Dance Academy in Tempe, Arizona before being accepted to Southern Methodist University on a dance scholarship and making her way to Texas. At SMU Danielle trained with some of the best teachers in the country, immersing herself in Jazz, Ballet and the Martha Graham modern technique. In college, she kept busy performing, teaching, choreographing and pursuing a degree in Corporate Communications. Danielle recently relocated to Austin and this is her first season with Verge Dance Company.
